Jewelry Making with 3rd and 4th Grade

Students first had a discussion on how jewelry making has been a form of art in almost every known culture. They were shown examples of necklaces made by Ancient Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, and Native Americans. Students were then asked to create their own necklaces. These beads are made of clay, bisked fired and painted with tempera paint. Fishing line was used as the string for the necklace. This was a very simple, fun, and effective project that the kids loved! Hope you enjoy the pictures.
